Here are a couple more of Max’s fine friends, partners in canine crime within the K Streets:
This is Jaquine. I’m not sure about the spelling of his name. It’s pronounced “Wa-keen.” He (yes, it’s a boy dog) is a two year old Shih Tzu.
I asked his human companion about the unusual name and he told me, “I don’t know how it’s spelled, my wife named him. She’s also the one who puts his hair in a bow and makes him wear booties.”
We commiserated for a while as beaten men will do.
He cheered up a bit and added, “But I was allowed to buy him the harness with the skulls and crossbones.”
Jaquine’s booties are home made. After too many failures with commercial products, his Mom bought some toddler socks and attached Velcro closures at the, um, ankles.
Next is Prince, a senior Shih Tzu of 12 years. His full name is Prince Charming but he has been nick named “The Dogfather” by owners of other frou-frou dogs in our condo. Prince has a gravitas about him that reminds one of Brando in the famous movie series.
Other dogs may approach him but Prince decides who is allowed to get close.
Sadly, Prince has recently gone deaf and now gets surprised when another pooch sneaks up behind for the inevitable sniff. The resultant startled jump somewhat diminishes the gravitas.
I apologize for the low quality photos and my inability to eliminate “green-eye” without causing “silver-eye.”
The filters in my software program don’t do a good job.
Maybe I should learn to live with it. Prince, the dog that ate Tokyo.
